April-May 2010

Man... A lot has happened since I last posted. We went to Provo for Brad's graduation. It was a blast and while we were there, I got to spend some much needed time with one of my best friends, Mariah Evanson. She is an amazing photographer and so I HAD to get some much needed Family pictures. You can check them out here: www.mae.photoreflect.com Look under the recent photos- Jet, Bradley, and Hyrum Skidmore. When we got back to NM we watched 3 kids, McKay (15), and twins Keven and Kyler (10) for 15 days while there parents and 2 older brothers went to Brazil. It was a wonderful experience. They are great Kids.

Hyrum is growing up so fast. I can't believe it! Here are some recent photos!

He is such a fun boy! We love him!

We hope that your family is happy and healthy! Enjoy the summer time!

Time

Time is often an issue for me. There is never enough time in the day for me to accomplish my mental to-do list. I start off every morning waking up to a crying baby. I am lucky if I even get to make my bed, which means that I am lucky to say my morning prayer. As soon as we are ready for the day, we head off to the local YMCA. When we get home I always have a chore list, dinner to get started, and a mile long list of crafts that I want and need to finish. Somehow time just slips away from me and I find myself tired from a couple of tasks that I have completed and sitting on the couch with the computer in my lap browsing through my favorite blogs. Some of them include homemadebyjill.blogspot.com , thismamamakesstuff.blogspot.com, and makeitandloveit.blogspot.com. These are all amazing women who are amazingly talented. Today I found some new blogs and am way excited to start more projects. Brad informed me that I MUST finish the ones on my mile long list before I begin new ones. I was saddened by his statement but know that he is right.
So I do have a point to this post, so I will get to it. The other day as I was going through my usual day, I ran across this post http://thismamamakesstuff.com/2010/03/heirloom-bloomer-giveaway/ and thought that I would enter.  I never win anything, but I had something to say on the topic, so I entered. Saturday morning I opened my email and I found that I had won! I rushed over to the website and found this post http://thismamamakesstuff.com/2010/04/heirloom-bloomer-winner/ ! I am way excited!!! Even though I don't have a little girl yet, I hope to have one someday and when that day comes, she will have these adorable bloomers waiting for her!!!

Happy Easter! Tomorrow I will post Easter festivity pictures!

There goes March...Here comes April

Since April is only a few days away, I thought I would write about what kept us busy in March. Hyrum and I started off the month with a visit to Texas. My great-grandmother passed away so we went to spend some time with my mom. It was a blast and felt great to be in my home state of TEXAS! My sister and her husband came and stayed with us while we were visiting. Hyrum loved laughing with his Aunt Arena. My sister is an amazing photographer and so we went to the Dallas Arboretum and took spring pictures. Here are some of them.

She also caught some pictures of Hyrum playing with Nanna

He loves Nanna

We also took Hyrum swimming for the first time!

One Week after we returned home to New Mexico, my mom came to visit over her spring break.  We had fun celebrating Brad's 27th Birthday and Hyrum's 1/2 birthday.

We have also had a blast with Hyrum this month as he continues to grow and mature. It is all happening way to fast. Here are some of the highlights.

Hyrum continues to teeth. He chews on everything. One of his favorite toys is his apple his
Great-grandma Skidmore got him.

One Sunday I dressed Hyrum up in an outfit from his dad's generation. Isn't he cute!

Hyrum outgrew his swing. He now sits up in it and tries to make it go higher.

The most recent activity/toy that keeps Hyrum busy is his walker. He loves it! I wasn't ready for all the excitment that the walker brought. He has now explored the dishwasher and trash cans and pulled everything he can reach off the counters.

On Saturday, Brad and I went to Albuquerque and went to the temple and did some shopping. Brad suprised me with a date to a fun center there. We played putt-putt golf and raced go carts. Here are some of our pictures.

Well that is what has been going on with our little family. We hope that you all have a great Easter holiday and month of April. We have many adventures coming up so I will keep you updated!

We love you all!

Here is Hyrum in his easter outfit!

Happy Easter Egg Hunting!

Recent Ideas and the "Dead Bug"

Life is starting to change as Hyrum continues to grow. I am starting to get more time to myself, which is great for my sanity. I have many projects that i am excited to get started, but they will have to wait until after our next trip to Utah so that i can go to a Joannes fabric that has more than a couple rows of fabric in it. My inspirations have come from several different blogs of Moms that make things for their kids. Some of the things i hope to make are:
A silent book for Hyrum
Some matching ties for Hyrum and Brad
Some pants with knee pads for Hyrum
A quilt for our New Designed Master Bedroom
A portable high chair
A Birthday Crown for Brad's Birthday and Hyrum's 1/2 Bithday (March 15th)

Here is a picture of the quilt design my friend Trisha and I are thinking about making

Another Quilt I am thinking about

The Little Boy Tie

Pants with knee Pads

The Birthday Crown

And the one I'm really excited about:
A portable High Chair

Ok enough about me! Here is what Hyrum has been up to:

Although the doctor says it is really important for him to crawl, he is still refusing to like or even tolerate his tummy time. So his new favorite move is...
The Dead Bug

Here is a professional doing it

I think he has got the idea! The dead bug is a yoga move and who said babies can't do yoga. Hyrum loves it! If we say "Do the dead bug Hyrum" he will grab his toes. I think it helps him keep interest when his toes wiggle !!

Well I hope this blog entry finds you all happy and healthy. Next time i hope to blog on our new eating habits and how that is going! I might even have some new recipes for you to try!

Love Jet

The New Year

Looking back, 2009 seemed to have flown by. I know it didn't feel that way when I was going through the year since I was pregnant and a new mom for most of the year. Although I thought it would never pass, many great things happened during those long months. Our first son Hyrum was born on September 15th right after we made a big move to Los Alamos, NM in August.

We had a blast over the holidays spending time with both sides of our family. We started Christmas vacation off here at home in Los Alamos with Brad's family. We played many games, watched some movies, and caught up on old times. One of the highlights was acting out the nativity scene. Here is a picture of us waiting for the wise men to visit the young child Jesus.

The Sunday following Christmas, we left for Mansfield, TX to visit with my family. While we were there we enjoyed a Christmas devotional, opening presents, watching many bowl games (including the Armed Forces Bowl, which we attended thanks to Uncle James), & playing in the snow. Hyrum esp. loved spending time with Nanna and Pappy. Here are some pictures from our adventures. One of our fun family pictures

I love this one!

Brad and I have each made goals for this new year, one of which is keeping this blog updated. We hope you all enjoy and have a wonderful New Year!
