Recent Ideas and the "Dead Bug"

Life is starting to change as Hyrum continues to grow. I am starting to get more time to myself, which is great for my sanity. I have many projects that i am excited to get started, but they will have to wait until after our next trip to Utah so that i can go to a Joannes fabric that has more than a couple rows of fabric in it. My inspirations have come from several different blogs of Moms that make things for their kids. Some of the things i hope to make are:
A silent book for Hyrum
Some matching ties for Hyrum and Brad
Some pants with knee pads for Hyrum
A quilt for our New Designed Master Bedroom
A portable high chair
A Birthday Crown for Brad's Birthday and Hyrum's 1/2 Bithday (March 15th)

Here is a picture of the quilt design my friend Trisha and I are thinking about making

Another Quilt I am thinking about

The Little Boy Tie

Pants with knee Pads

The Birthday Crown

And the one I'm really excited about:
A portable High Chair

Ok enough about me! Here is what Hyrum has been up to:

Although the doctor says it is really important for him to crawl, he is still refusing to like or even tolerate his tummy time. So his new favorite move is...
The Dead Bug

Here is a professional doing it

I think he has got the idea! The dead bug is a yoga move and who said babies can't do yoga. Hyrum loves it! If we say "Do the dead bug Hyrum" he will grab his toes. I think it helps him keep interest when his toes wiggle !!

Well I hope this blog entry finds you all happy and healthy. Next time i hope to blog on our new eating habits and how that is going! I might even have some new recipes for you to try!

The New Year

Looking back, 2009 seemed to have flown by. I know it didn't feel that way when I was going through the year since I was pregnant and a new mom for most of the year. Although I thought it would never pass, many great things happened during those long months. Our first son Hyrum was born on September 15th right after we made a big move to Los Alamos, NM in August.

We had a blast over the holidays spending time with both sides of our family. We started Christmas vacation off here at home in Los Alamos with Brad's family. We played many games, watched some movies, and caught up on old times. One of the highlights was acting out the nativity scene. Here is a picture of us waiting for the wise men to visit the young child Jesus.

The Sunday following Christmas, we left for Mansfield, TX to visit with my family. While we were there we enjoyed a Christmas devotional, opening presents, watching many bowl games (including the Armed Forces Bowl, which we attended thanks to Uncle James), & playing in the snow. Hyrum esp. loved spending time with Nanna and Pappy. Here are some pictures from our adventures. One of our fun family pictures

I love this one!

Our New Little Addition

We are happy to announce the first little Skidmore is on the way. We are due on September 19th 2009! We will find out the sex the last week in April/ first week of May. We are having the baby in the American Fork, UT hospital with Dr. Andrea Smith. We have heard the heart beat, and will get to hear it again tomorrow, May 5th when we go visit the Doctor for the 2nd time! We are way excited!

Jet hasn't yet decided what she thinks it is but Brad, along with his brother Greg, thinks that we are expecting Hyrum Edward Skidmore, while Jet's mom and Brad's sister Stephanie think we are having Emma Ray Skidmore!

We will keep you updated!

Recent Adventures

This year has been an eventful one for the Brad and Jet family. We have had so many new adventures and trips and have been extremely blessed.

Our biggest news is that we are expecting a new addition to our family. Little Skidmore #1 is due on September 19th, 2009. We have visited the doctor once and will be making our second visit next week. We were blessed with the opportunity to listen to the baby's heartbeat. Brad says that it sounds like a little washing machine beating at 176 beats per minute which is pretty typical for an 8 week old baby only having 2 chambers to its heart. We are looking forward to hearing it again on Thursday at our check up. We will find out the sex of the baby the last week in April/ first week of May.

We also had a big trip last week when we visited Texas. We were able to visit the famous Alamo and go on the San Antonio River Walk. The weather was great, mostly in the high 60's while we were there, which was a nice escape from the low temps and snow in Utah. The real reason we went was to see the sealing of Jet's brother Andy to his wife, Alex, and his 4 month old daughter, River. This was such a great opportunity to not only remember the importance and blessings of eternal families but to also share some great memories with our family. One neat part was to see River beaming after the sealing. She was so happy and We have never seen her smile so big before.

Other than that Brad stays busy with school, research, and looking for full time employment while Jet continues to work for the local cake decorator.

We wish you the best and are so grateful to have such a wonderful, supportive family!
